Tom Waits' 1976 album Small Change is widely regarded as one of his finest works, blending jazz, Tin Pan Alley and American songbook influences with his unmistakable songwriting. Featuring enduring favourites including 'Tom Traubert's Blues', 'Step Right Up', 'The Piano Has Been Drinking', 'Invitation to the Blues' and 'I Wish I Was in New Orleans', it captures Waits at his most poignant, witty and evocative. Recorded with a live orchestra and featuring jazz great Shelly Manne on drums, Small Change remains one of the defining records in Waits' catalogue and a lasting influence on generations of songwriters.
