The Sessions IV is the fourth instalment in a live series documenting Tangerine Dream in concert, capturing the scale and detail of the group’s performances during a fertile modern era. Recorded across festival appearances in Pisa, Oslo and Gothenburg, the album presents a wide-ranging snapshot of the band on the road, balancing exploratory sequencing with the sense of momentum that defines their live shows.
These recordings feature the then-current line-up of Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane, a configuration that blends Tangerine Dream’s long-established electronic language with a renewed sense of motion and melodic focus. Across 80 minutes of music, the set moves fluidly between hypnotic passages, surging rhythms and expansive atmospheres, reflecting the group’s continuing evolution as a live act.
Long celebrated for landmark studio albums and influential film soundtracks, Tangerine Dream’s legacy has always been closely tied to performance and improvisation. The Sessions IV reinforces that connection, presenting immersive recordings that capture the depth, precision and ambition of the band in front of an audience.
