Blue Transparent Vinyl LP
Since their debut 'Way Past Three' single landed on Valentine's Day 2023, the surmounting hype around Manchester indie-synth duo (formerly trio) Nightbus has reached momentous levels. Combining elements of 90s trip-hop, indie sleaze, coldwave and electronica, with a notable club-friendly approach that's seen the pairing of Olive Rees and Jake Cottier garner comparisons to a Gen Z flavoured New Order, their singular yet sprawling vision becomes fully realised on the much-anticipated full-length Passenger. Recorded at The Nave in Leeds with producer/engineer Alex Greaves (Heavy Lungs, Working Men's Club), the material joins the connective tissues of shimmering shoegaze and gothy post-punk detachment with the gloomy deathrave ambience of a Crystal Castles or The xx remix. From leaning into their digitally based side with a slew of DJ sets and remixes, to guesting on BDRMM's Microtonic album, while early plans are in development with like-minded talents to craft a 3-part queer coming-of-age music video series which ties in with a new 'hyperpop' phase in the evolution of their popular Nightbus Soundsystem club night, there's truly no more of an ample time to become a passenger on their hazy, neon-lit jaunt through the urban night.
