Splitting off from their longtime bandmate in the wake of domestic abuse allegations, combined with the toll of being in a touring metal band in the modern age, threw up a seemingly insurmountable obstacle in the remaining members' path. Toiling away in secret, the band enlisted vocalist\/guitarist Aaron Turner (Isis, Sumac, Old Man Gloom) to take Kelly's place, recording their long since fabled follow-up to 2016's Fires Within Fires under the most hushed of circumstances. Marking their first new album in a decade, An Undying Love For A Burning World offers a nihilistic form of cathartic release across its hefty hour-long runtime, recorded at Studio Litho in Seattle by Scott Evans, known for his production work with Kowloon Walled City and Sumac, resulting in their first LP since 1996's Through Silver In Blood to not feature the production work of the late, great Steve Albini. With lyrical themes delving into \"the realities of modern existence, addressing isolation, anxiety, environmental collapse, and the search for meaning in an increasingly fragmented world\", one of the most integral components of the post-metal underworld rise from the ashes with a renewed sense of vehement purpose, further emboldened by the new collaborative ethos and peer recognition evident in the addition of Turner, who bellows and shrieks with the type of looming presence that feels like he's always been here.
