Josienne Clarke the “voice of a haunted angel” once the dark-hearted darling of the English folk scene, returns to the tradition a decade after winning her BBC Folk Award. Having spent the intervening years honing her singular voice as a singer/songwriter, she now revisits her most treasured folksongs to find their skeletal essence. In ‘Regenerene MMXXVI’, these ancient melodies are elemental and re-embodied; stripped of artifice and breathed back to life through a sparse, spectral ensemble of nylon string guitar, field organ, piano, harp, recorders, and the atmospheric shimmer of electric guitar.
