The Empyrean is one of John Frusciante’s best solo albums. While lacking some of the intensity of his work with RHCP, especially Stadium Arcadium, which is a masterpiece The Empyrean still carries through with great riffs and subtle melodies. The lyrics - as always - are worth the time deciphering. I find Frusciante to be genius, strange at the best of times, fragile and tremendously creative. He seems born to wield the guitar.
